Monsieur Racine's Beast

The story of an unusual friendship, based on the book by Tomi Ungerer

„Madame Pompadour“, „Coco“, „Ernestine“ - among others, these are the names Monsieur Racine gave to the fruits of his impressive pear tree. He knows a name for every single pear, that's how proud they make him. But these delicious fruits are even more desired by Adele and Fips, two children of a family in Monsieur Racine's neighbourhood. For quite some time now, the kids have tried in vein to steal some of the old man's treasured fruits.

On morning, Racine finds his garden devastated, almost all of his pears stolen or eaten up. The pear's remains and some footsteps big as a pancake reveal some kind of a "beasty feast". Only Madame Pompadour, the biggest pear on the tree survived it. But what horrible monster could have done that? -

Racine picks up his gun and settles down to lie in wait. Finally he catches a gigantic beast.
But the old man also realizes, that this beast is not as monstrous as it may seem, and that its paws seem strangely similar to some children's feet...

A vivid play about loneliness, an old man and two creative children.
